Sremski Karlovci
Half a day: walk the Habsburg centre, climb the bell tower and taste wine by the Danube. Not a base; a stop between Novi Sad and Belgrade.
Sremski Karlovci is a compact Danube town in Vojvodina, 12 km south of Novi Sad. Its Habsburg-era square, Orthodox cathedral and wine cellars fill a few hours. Most travellers stop here on the Novi Sad–Belgrade train or as a short bus ride from Novi Sad.
