Springwood sits about halfway up the Blue Mountains, roughly 1 h 20 min by train from Sydney Central, and it is the first town on the line with a real high street. The draw is small and local: a gallery, a bushwalk to a lookout, a country club, and the Norman Lindsay Gallery one stop west at Faulconbridge. Most travellers pass through on the way to Katoomba, Leura or Blackheath; a half-day on foot from the station covers the centre.
