Sparta
Sparta, Kentucky
Skip unless you're here for a NASCAR race weekend at Kentucky Speedway. Otherwise, one hour is enough to see the track and leave.
Sparta is a tiny town (pop. ~230) on I-71 between Cincinnati and Louisville. Its only draw is the Kentucky Speedway, which hosts NASCAR races in late June and late September. Outside race weekends, there's little reason to stop — the Butler-Turpin State Historic House is 15 minutes west in Carrollton. Most travellers pass through in under an hour.
