The southern Pacific coast is the most developed corner of Nicaragua: Granada on Lake Nicaragua, the twin volcanoes of Ometepe, and a string of surf beaches running south to the Costa Rica border. Towns sit 30–90 minutes apart by shuttle, so pick one or two bases and day-trip the rest. Granada for colonial streets and lake islands, San Juan del Sur or a nearby surf beach for the water.
