The Southern Governorate covers two-thirds of Bahrain but holds less than a tenth of its people. Its draws are the Tree of Life, the Formula 1 circuit and Al Areen Wildlife Park, all reachable by car from Manama in 30–40 minutes. A half-day loop covers them; you do not need to sleep here.

- Greeting: 'As-salamu alaykum'; shake hands with men; wait for a woman to offer her hand; avoid: Hugging or kissing strangers

- F1 weekend (10–12 April 2026) brings heavy traffic and higher hotel prices.
- Summer temperatures exceed 45°C; carry water and avoid midday.
Very safe; the main risks are heatstroke in summer and traffic on the highway. No nightlife or bars in the governorate.
