South Carolina splits into three usable trips: the Lowcountry around Charleston and Hilton Head, the Grand Strand at Myrtle Beach, and the Upcountry around Greenville. They are 3–5 hours apart by car, so two bases in a week is realistic and three is a driving holiday. Fly into Charleston or Myrtle Beach for the coast, Greenville-Spartanburg or Charlotte for the mountains.
