Get around
A car is the practical way: sights are spread across six villages and there is no walkable centre. RIPTA buses run from Providence (lines 9, 52, 58 and the 90 park-and-ride to Smithfield Commons) at $2 a ride, but they do not link the farms and ponds. Bikes work on the back roads; walking between sights does not. Rent a car in Providence — choice in Smithfield itself is limited.
