Skoura
Half a day to see the oasis and kasbahs on the Ouarzazate–Merzouga route; not a base, but worth the stop.
Skoura is a palm oasis 40 km east of Ouarzazate, dotted with traditional rammed-earth kasbahs and ksour. Most travellers stop for a few hours between the Atlas and the desert. The palmeraie itself is the main sight, with Kasbah Amridil as the standout. One night works if you want a quiet evening among the palms.
