Skive
Give Skive one night as a Limfjord stopover: walk the old centre and harbour in an afternoon, then drive out to Salling, Mors or Flyndersø.
Skive is a laid-back market town of about 20,000 on the south side of the Limfjord, the urban centre for the Salling and Nordfjends peninsulas. It is not a tourist magnet: the old pedestrianised centre, the marina and the beaches fill an easy half-day, and the real draw is the surrounding countryside, the fossil islands of Mors and Fur, and the open-air museum at Hjerl Hede. Most travellers use it as a stopover on the way to or from northwest Jutland, and one night is enough unless you are hiking or cycling the Limfjord.

Get around
The old centre is compact and walkable, and you can reach the harbour, the art museum and the churches on foot. For Salling, Nordfjends, Mors and Fur you need a car or the regional buses: local city buses closed in June 2026, so check Midttrafik timetables before you rely on them. Train tickets are valid on connecting buses if you board within the time limit.
