Sittwe

Sittwe is a small Rakhine State city used as a transit point to Mrauk U, but since early 2024 it is surrounded by armed conflict, sea and road routes are closed, and the airport operates under strict controls. For most travellers the city is unsafe to visit; if you must pass through, allocate a single night for a quick stop before heading to Mrauk U.
