Sigmaringen
Stop for 2–3 hours to see the castle and walk the old town, or stay one night if cycling the Danube Bike Trail. Not a base for the region.
Sigmaringen is a small town on the upper Danube, best known for its Hohenzollern castle perched on a rocky spur above the river. The castle tour and a short walk through the pedestrian centre take about half a day. Most travellers pass through on the Danube Bike Trail or as a stop between the Black Forest and Lake Constance.
