Siesta Key
Stay 2–3 nights on the key for the beach and sunsets; day-trip from Sarasota if you only want one beach day.
Siesta Key is a barrier island west of Sarasota with a wide quartz-sand beach, calm Gulf water and a small village strip of bars and casual restaurants. It is a beach base, not a sightseeing city: two or three nights covers the sand, the sunsets and a kayak or two, and a car or rideshare makes the mainland easy.
