Sidney is a small Shelby County seat on the flat Miami valley plain, founded as a canal town in the 1830s and named after the poet Philip Sidney. Its one real sight is a Louis Sullivan bank from 1917; the rest is a county historical center, a Gothic Revival farmstead and a bike path. There is no bus or train service, so you need a car, and most travellers see it as a stop between Dayton and Lima rather than a base.

Get around
A car is effectively required: there is no bus or train into Sidney and no local transit worth planning around. Downtown is small enough to walk once parked, and the Canal Feeder bike path runs from southern Sidney to just south of downtown at Graceland Cemetery.
