Shingo
新郷
Skip unless you are fascinated by the Jesus Christ tomb legend: a 30-minute stop on a drive through Aomori, not a destination.
Shingo is a tiny village in southeastern Aomori known for a single curiosity: a tomb that locals claim holds Jesus Christ. The story is a 20th-century invention, but the site includes a small museum and a meditation path. The rest of the village offers little else for travellers. Most visitors come as a short detour from Hachinohe or on a drive through the countryside.
