Shëngjin
Give Shëngjin 2 nights as a beach base for Lezhë and the Kune lagoon; skip it if you want a town with a walkable old quarter.
Shëngjin is a low-rise beach town on the Adriatic in northwest Albania, 7 km from Lezhë and about 58 km from Tirana. It is a sand-and-seafood stop, not a sightseeing city: the beach, the Rana e Hedhun dunes and the Kune lagoon are the reasons to come. Two nights covers it; one night is enough if you are only breaking the drive north.

Get around
The town is small enough to walk: promenade to centre is about 15 minutes on foot. Buses and furgons run to Lezhë all day (furgons year-round, buses mainly in summer) and often continue out of town, so tell the driver your stop. Taxis are cheap for short hops; a car helps for Rana e Hedhun and the lagoon.
