Shelburne is a small South Shore harbour town, 208 km southwest of Halifax on Highway 103, with one of the best-preserved Loyalist-era waterfronts in Canada. In 1783 it briefly held about 17,000 people, including roughly 3,000 Black Loyalists who settled at nearby Birchtown. Today it is a quiet stop between Halifax and Yarmouth, with a car needed for everything.
