Sepidan is a mountainous county in Fars province, 120 km north-west of Shiraz. It draws Iranians for its year-round snow peaks, alpine ski resort and the Margoon Waterfall. Foreign travellers who have a car and a free day use it as a nature break from Shiraz.

- Snow chains required in winter; check road conditions before setting out.
- No fuel stations after Ardakan; fill up in Shiraz or at the last station before the mountains.
- The peaks are technical climbs: go with a guide from a Shiraz mountain club.
- Margoon Waterfall can be dry in late summer (Aug–Sep).
