The Sea to Sky is one road: Highway 99 from the North Shore along Howe Sound to Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. It is a corridor, not a cluster of towns, so you pick one base and stop on the way. Squamish is the cheap, central base for climbing and the Chief; Whistler is the resort base with the beds, buses and winter season; Pemberton is quiet farmland 30 minutes further north. A car makes the waterfalls and lakes easy; without one, buses run Vancouver–Squamish–Whistler year-round and Whistler's local network is frequent.
