Satellite Beach
Give Satellite Beach 1–2 nights as a quiet beach base on the Space Coast: beach parks by day, mainland Melbourne for food and errands.
Satellite Beach is a small barrier-island town on Florida's Space Coast, between Indian Harbour Beach and South Patrick Shores, about 15 minutes by car from Melbourne. There is no resort strip: the draw is a long public beach, two beach parks, a lagoon-side island reachable by a free boat trip, and easy access to the Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach to the north. Most travellers use it as a low-key base for 1–2 nights rather than a destination in itself.

Get around
A car is the practical choice: A1A runs north–south along the barrier island, and the Pineda Causeway (FL-404) and Eau Gallie Boulevard connect to the mainland and I-95. Space Coast Area Transit (SCAT) buses serve the corridor but run infrequently; rideshare works for short hops but can be slow at night. Bikes are fine on the island's flat streets.
