Sárospatak
Go for one night, or a half-day from Sátoraljaújhely: the Rákóczi castle and the Reformed College take 3–4 hours, then move on.
Sárospatak is a small town in the Bodrog valley, 70 km northeast of Miskolc, with a castle that was a Rákóczi family seat and a Reformed college that hosted Jan Comenius in the 1650s. The historic core is compact and walkable; there is no local bus or taxi, so you cover it on foot or by regional bus. Most travellers see it as a stop between Miskolc and Sátoraljaújhely, or as a base for the Tokaj and Zemplén wine villages.
