  • Sarajevo is easy with children: the old town is flat, the Sebilj pigeons and copper workshops interest them, and the river promenade has room to run.
  • Cobbles are hard on strollers on Baščaršija and steep on the hills; bring a carrier or a light folding stroller.
  • The tram to Ilidža (about 30 minutes) leads to Vrelo Bosne, a flat green park by the springs with a horse-and-carriage ride and picnic spots.
  • The Trebević cable car is a good half-day for children over five; keep them on the marked paths at the top.
  • Heavy content: the Tunnel Museum and Gallery 11/07/95 are not for young children; decide by age.
  • Family rooms in the centre are small; Marijin Dvor hotels and Ilidža apartments have more space.
