São Francisco do Sul
One full day: morning in the historic centre, afternoon at a beach. Two days if you want to add a boat trip to Babitonga Bay islands.
São Francisco do Sul is the oldest city in Santa Catarina and the third oldest in Brazil, with a well-preserved Portuguese colonial centre and a string of Atlantic beaches. It sits on an island just west of Joinville, 200 km north of Florianópolis. Most visitors spend one day exploring the historic core and one beach; a second day allows for a boat trip to the islands of Babitonga Bay.
