Santaquin
Skip as a base: no hotels, one small museum by appointment. Stop 1–2 hours at the fruit barn on I-15, or sleep in Payson 10 min north.
Santaquin is a farming town of about 11,000 at the south end of Utah Valley, on I-15 between Provo and Nephi. There is no hotel, the museum opens by appointment only, and the main reasons to leave the freeway are a farm shop, a burger stand and a canyon road. Treat it as a leg-stretch on the drive, not a destination.
