Sandema
Half a day: see the market, ask about the Builsa war dance, then sleep in Bolgatanga or Navrongo. Not a base.
Sandema is the traditional capital of the Builsa people in the Upper East Region, known for its resistance history against slave raiders and the Builsa war dance. The town is small, with a daily market and a few cultural sites. Most travellers pass through on the way to Navrongo or Bolgatanga, or use it as a brief stop to learn about Builsa traditions. Accommodation is very basic; better to sleep in Navrongo or Bolga.
