San Pedro Sula
Use San Pedro Sula as a 1-night transport hub, not a base: airport, buses and Zona Viva are fine by day, but there is little to see and nights need taxis.
San Pedro Sula is Honduras's second city and its business and transport hub, 11 km from Ramón Villeda Morales airport (SAP) and the bus gateway to Tela, La Ceiba, Copán and the Bay Islands. The centre is compact and walkable by day, but the city is a stopover, not a destination: most travellers sleep one night near the airport or Zona Viva, then move on. Plan 1 night, 2 if you need a day trip to Cusuco or Lake Yojoa.
