Salvatierra
Give Salvatierra one night, or a half-day stop between Guanajuato and Morelia: the Centro is 2–3 hours on foot, and there is no second day of sights.
Salvatierra is a small colonial town of about 37,000 people in Guanajuato state, one of Mexico's Pueblos Mágicos, and the first city founded in the state (1644). The draw is a compact Centro: a baroque parish church, a garden square, a market, a 17th-century bridge and a handful of churches. It is a stop on the Bajío circuit, not a destination in itself, and most travellers see it in an afternoon or sleep one night between Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende and Morelia.

Get around
Walk the Centro: cobblestone streets, plazas and churches sit within about 15 minutes of each other. Taxis wait near the Jardín or your hotel can call a radio taxi; Uber also runs here. For the Puente de Batanes and Eco Parque el Sabinal, take a taxi.
