Salmon Arm
Give Salmon Arm 1–2 nights as a Shuswap Lake stop on the Trans-Canada: beach and wharf in summer, wine and Larch Hills skiing either side.
Salmon Arm sits on Shuswap Lake on Highway 1, roughly halfway between Vancouver and Calgary, about an hour from Kamloops and an hour from Kelowna. It is a summer town: beaches, the long wooden wharf, houseboats and wineries. One night covers the wharf and downtown; two nights add a beach day or a winery run. Winter is quiet apart from cross-country skiing at Larch Hills.

Get around
Downtown, the wharf and Alexander Street are walkable. BC Transit (Shuswap Regional Transit System) runs daytime shuttle buses on half-hour to hourly frequencies, with all lines meeting downtown in front of Askew's supermarket; route 23 reaches Canoe Beach Monday–Saturday. Beaches, wineries and Larch Hills need a car or taxi.
