Saiq
Sayq
One night is enough for the cool mountain air and terrace walks; use it as a stop between Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar, not a base.
Saiq is a small village at 2,000 m in the Hajar Mountains, known for its mild summer climate and as the gateway to Jebel Akhdar. Most visitors stay one night to hike the terraced farms and escape the coastal heat. The drive up requires a 4WD and a permit check at the police checkpoint.

- No ATMs in the village – carry enough cash (OMR) for meals and accommodation.
- Temperatures drop sharply after sunset even in summer; pack a jacket.
Saiq is safe for tourists. The main risks are the steep mountain road (drive slowly, use low gear) and the cold at night. Keep cash because ATMs are absent.
