Sainte-Ursule
Go for half a day: the 70 m waterfall park is the whole reason. Sleep in Louiseville or Trois-Rivières, not here.
Sainte-Ursule is a parish municipality of about 1,375 people in the Maskinongé MRC, Basse-Mauricie, on route 348 between Louiseville and Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon. Its one draw is Parc des chutes de Saint-Ursule, where the Maskinongé river drops about 70 m. There is no hotel strip and no station: you come by car, walk the falls, eat, and leave.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake; 'Bonjour' first in Québec; avoid: Assuming everyone speaks English
- Queues: Line up and wait your turn; avoid: Pushing in
- Apologising: 'Sorry' is politeness, not admission of fault; avoid: Loud confrontation
- Canada vs US: Treat Canada as its own country; avoid: Calling Canadians American
- Indigenous culture: Buy from Indigenous-owned businesses and ask before photos at ceremonies; avoid: Wearing headdresses as costume
Scams and watch-outs
- No train or scheduled bus to the village: without a car you cannot get here.
- Falls park paths and the suspension bridge can be icy or closed outside the warm months; check before driving out.
- Fuel and groceries are limited in the village: fill up in Louiseville or Maskinongé.
- Cell coverage is fine in the village but patchy on the wooded back roads.
Very safe. The real risks are rural: wildlife and deer on route 348 at dusk, icy park boardwalks in shoulder season, and long gaps between fuel stops.
