Saint-Georges
Give Saint-Georges one night as a Beauce base, not a destination: two half-days covers the island park, the waterfalls and the church. No intercity bus since 2023 — you need a car.
Saint-Georges is the largest town in the Beauce, about 100 km south of Québec City on Autoroute 73, with roughly 31,000 people and a working manufacturing economy rather than a tourist one. Its draw is small and local: a river island park in the middle of town, seven waterfalls on a hiking trail, a mid-19th-century church with a rare 1888 organ, and a miniature village 6 km out. Come for one night on a Québec City–Maine run, or as a half-day break on Route 173. Since 2023 there is no intercity bus, so a car or a rideshare is the only practical way in.
