One day for Exporail, the railway museum, is enough; sleep in Montréal or Longueuil and come out by car or the Candiac train, not a base.
Saint-Constant is a South Shore suburb of about 25,000 people, 25 km from Montréal, and its one real draw is Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum, with historic locomotives, wagons and short train rides. Everything else is parks, a pool, a bowling alley and suburban restaurants. Treat it as a half-day or day trip from Montréal, not a place to base a Québec trip.

A car is the practical way: Highway 30, Route 132 and Route 209 cross the town, and Exporail and the malls sit on the service roads. The exo Candiac commuter line stops in Saint-Constant and Delson for Montréal, but it is a rush-hour, weekday-oriented service — check the timetable before you rely on it.
