Saharan Morocco is the pre-Saharan belt south of the High Atlas: Ouarzazate, the Draa valley, the Tafilalt oasis towns and the big dunes at Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga. It is not Western Sahara. Distances are long and buses are slow, so pick one dune field and one kasbah cluster, and cross the region in one direction instead of doubling back. Merzouga for dunes and camps, Ouarzazate for kasbahs and film studios, Zagora or M'Hamid for the quieter Chegaga side.
