Rudraprayag
A 30-minute stop at the river confluence, or a base for the Rudranath trek: half a day is enough for the town itself.
Rudraprayag is a small town in Garhwal where the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers meet, forming a sacred sangam. The main sight is the confluence and the Rudranath Temple (one of the Panch Kedār) is a trek of several hours from here. Most travellers pass through on the way to Badrinath or Kedarnath.

Scams and watch-outs
- Landslides are common during monsoon (Jul–Aug); check road conditions before travel.
- The Rudranath trek requires a guide in snow months (Dec–Mar).
- ATMs are limited; carry enough cash for the trek.
- Last buses to Rishikesh/Dehradun leave by late afternoon.
Rudraprayag is safe for tourists, but roads are narrow and prone to landslides in monsoon. On the Rudranath trek, carry a guide and warm layers even in summer.
