Rougemont
Go for one day in apple season (Sep–mid-Oct) or for a sugar-shack meal in spring; skip as a base — it is a village of about 2,700 with few beds.
Rougemont is a village on the south slope of Mont Rougemont in the Montérégie, about 55 km east of Montréal. It is Quebec's apple capital: orchards, cideries, vineyards and sugar shacks line rue Principale, rang de la Montagne and rang Double. Most visitors come for a half-day or a full day of U-pick and tastings, or for a maple meal in spring. Beds are few, so many travellers sleep in Marieville or Granby and drive in.
