Give Rosthern one night, two at most: use it as a base for Batoche, Duck Lake and Fort Carlton, not as a town to sightsee in itself.
Rosthern is a town of about 1,700 people on Highway 11, roughly 45 minutes northeast of Saskatoon and halfway to Prince Albert. Its value is position: Batoche National Historic Site, Duck Lake and Fort Carlton are all within an hour, and the town itself has a small arts centre, a Mennonite museum and a regional park. Most travellers pass through on the Louis Riel Trail; a night here turns three scattered historic sites into one loop.
