Rhyl is a seaside town on the north Wales coast, about 3 hours from London by train and 30 minutes from Chester by car. It has a two-mile sandy beach, a promenade and a 15-inch gauge miniature railway, but the town centre is run down and the food and hotel choice is thin. Most travellers do it as a short stop between Chester and the north Wales coast, or skip it for better resorts nearby.
