Rastatt
Half a day for the palace and Schloss Favorite, then move on: Rastatt is a stop between Karlsruhe and Baden-Baden, not a base.
Rastatt is a small city at the northern edge of the Black Forest, best known for its Baroque Residenzschloss and the secluded Schloss Favorite. Most visitors spend a few hours here on the way to Baden-Baden or Karlsruhe. The town itself is quiet, with a compact centre and a handful of restaurants.
