Râșnov
Base in Râșnov for 1–2 nights only if you want a quiet, cheap base for Bran and Poiana Brașov; otherwise day-trip the citadel from Brașov (30 min, 4 lei bus).
Râșnov is a small Saxon town 15 km from Brașov with one headline sight, the 14th-century hilltop citadel, plus a dinosaur park and a limestone gorge. Most travellers see the fortress on a half-day run from Brașov; sleeping here pays off only if you want cheaper beds and a base for Bran, Poiana Brașov and the Piatra Craiului. Two nights is the useful maximum.

Get around
The centre is walkable in 15 minutes. The citadel is a 15–20 min uphill walk through forest from the centre, or a short drive to the upper parking. Buses to Brașov stop several times along the main road. Taxis are cheap; agree the fare or check the meter.
