Lahore is the capital of Punjab province and one of Pakistan's largest cities, built up over centuries as a Mughal seat of power. Its walled old city holds a dense cluster of forts, mosques and gates, and the wider city is known nationally for its food culture, festivals and arts. It sits close to the Wagah border crossing with India, where a daily flag-lowering ceremony draws crowds.
