Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac is the free, no-permit mountain day out from Barcelona: a 1,100 m conglomerate massif 60 km inland, with the Romanesque monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt on the La Mola summit, the second summit of Montcau, and ten signposted SL-C trails from 2.5 km family loops to full ridge climbs. Entry and the main car parks cost nothing, so the real constraints are time and parking: drive to Can Robert or Coll d'Estenalles and start before 9:00 at weekends, or take the FGC train to Terrassa and the M11 bus. Spring and autumn give the best walking; July and August are exposed and hot above 800 m.

- The Casa Nova de l'Obac and Marquet de les Roques information points are reachable by car with short walks.
- La Mola, Montcau and the cave trails are steep and rough; not suitable for limited mobility.

- Take the M11 bus or the train to Terrassa instead of driving when you can; parking fills early on weekends.
- Stay on marked trails to protect the cliff plants, including Ramonda myconi and Saxifraga callosa.

What are the best hikes in Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park?
The climb from Can Robert to La Mola (SL-C 50) is the classic, 2–3 hours up. From Coll d'Estenalles, the SL-C 54 goes to La Mola and a rougher path leads to Montcau. For an easy day, the SL-C 65 Camí de les Arenes is 5 km and the SL-C 63 Font de la Portella is 3.5 km.
When is the best time to visit Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park?
April, May, October and November give the best walking weather. July and August are hot and exposed, so start at dawn. Winter days are cold but often clear, with ice on shaded rock.
Do I need a car to reach the park?
No, but it helps. FGC trains run from Barcelona to Terrassa, and the TGO M11 bus continues to Coll d'Estenalles and Mura. By car, use the C-16 exits 41 or 49, or the B-122 and BV-1221 roads.
Is the park good for families?
Yes, on the short SL-C loops: SL-C 63 (3.5 km), SL-C 65 (5 km) and SL-C 58 (4 km) are the easiest. The summit trails to La Mola and Montcau are long and rocky for small children.
Can I stay inside the park?
There is no park campsite or hotel. Stay in Terrassa, Sabadell or the villages of Mura and Talamanca, all within about 30 minutes of the main trailheads.
