Know before you go
- Free, open at all hours; the signs are lit from dusk until about midnight (check).
- 18:30–22:00 and all weekend the bridge and main street are shoulder to shoulder.
- Touts work the canal area at night; walk past anyone offering a bar.
- Canal cruises (about 20 min) leave from the pier by the Ferris wheel; buy at the pier.
- Prices at the famous stands are tourist prices but posted clearly: no bargaining, no service charge.

- 1Start at Namba station and walk north to Ebisu-bashi, the bridge under the running-man sign.
- 2Go down to the riverside walk (Tombori) for the signs without the bridge crowd; walk east towards Nippombashi.
- 3Eat at the counters and stand-up windows along the street; step aside to eat, do not eat on the move in the crowd.
- 4Cut south into Hōzen-ji Yokochō for a quiet five minutes, then back for the signs after dark.
