Blue Mountains National Park covers most of the plateau and gorges west of Sydney, from Glenbrook to Lithgow, and is the most visited park in New South Wales. Entry to the park itself is free; you pay for parking at the busiest lookouts and for camping. The classic day is Echo Point and the Three Sisters, but the better walking is at Wentworth Falls, Blackheath and the Grose Valley. Trains run from Sydney to Katoomba in about two hours, so a car is optional.

Accessibility

- Scenic World runs a cable car and railway to the valley floor; check access for wheelchairs.
- Most valley tracks have steps and rough surfaces; not suitable for limited mobility.

How much does it cost to enter Blue Mountains National Park?
Nothing. Entry is free. You pay for parking at Echo Point and some lookouts (about A$4–6 an hour), for camping (Euroka from about A$24 a night), and for private attractions such as Scenic World.
What are the best hikes in Blue Mountains National Park?
For a short walk, Echo Point to the Three Sisters (30–45 minutes). For a half day, Wentworth Falls or the Grand Canyon at Blackheath. For a hard day, the Giant Stairway and Federal Pass, about 900 steps down and back.
When is the best time to visit Blue Mountains National Park?
March to May and September to November for mild, dry weather and fewer crowds. December to February is hot and busy; June to August is cold with clear views but ice on shaded steps.
Can I visit without a car?
Yes. Trains from Sydney Central reach Katoomba in about two hours, and the station is a 20-minute walk from Echo Point. Local buses also run to some lookouts.
Do I need a park pass?
