Pripyatsky National ParkНацыянальны парк Прыпяцкі
Enter for 10 BYN (2026 estimate) and walk the Lyaskovichi–Turov floodplain trail in May–September; skip the hunting zone unless you have a permit, and plan for mosquitoes and muddy paths after rain. The park is remote: bring food and water, and a car is nearly essential.

- Europe ↗Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window, counted across all 29 Schengen states together — not per country; the Entry/Exit System now logs each crossing, so an overstay is detected automatically.
- Europe ↗On the first Schengen entry since EES began, non-EU travellers give four fingerprints and a face photo at the border instead of a passport stamp; there is nothing to apply for or pay in advance.
- Eastern Europe ↗Reach this subregion only from the EU side — Romania for Moldova — through crossings run by recognised authorities; no route through Ukraine, Belarus or Russia is planned here.
- Eastern Europe ↗Re-read your government's advice for Moldova (it covers Transnistria) in the week you travel; the situation next door changes fast.
- Eastern Europe ↗Carry euros in cash for Transnistria and village Moldova; cards stop working at the Dniester.
- Belarus ↗Check your own government travel advice for Belarus before any booking; advice depends on your passport and changes without notice.
- Belarus ↗Land crossings from Poland, Lithuania and Latvia open and close on short notice; confirm the crossing on the day with that country's border guard.
- Belarus ↗Confirm that your travel insurance and medical evacuation cover apply to Belarus before you rely on it.

Pripyatsky National Park protects the floodplain of the Pripyat River in southern Belarus: vast turf swamps, floodplain forests and a network of old reclamation canals. It holds bison, elk, lynx and 246 bird species. The park is not set up for casual tourism — there are few marked trails, no regular public transport inside, and the office in Lyaskovichi is the only reliable contact point. Most visitors come for hunting, fishing or a quiet walk on the Lyaskovichi–Turov route. The park floods heavily in spring; summer and early autumn are the practical visiting months.

Time out
Finding the local time zone…
Times are local to the spot (zone loading). The half-hour margin is our rule of thumb, not an official figure; light fades earlier in forest or under cloud. Carry a headlamp on any route that could run late.

Questions people ask
How much does it cost to enter Pripyatsky National Park?
About 10 BYN per adult (2026 estimate), paid at the Lyaskovichi office. Children and students pay about 5 BYN. Hunting and fishing permits cost extra.
What are the best hikes in Pripyatsky National Park?
The main walking route is the Lyaskovichi–Turov floodplain walk (3–5 h, moderate). There are no official marked trails; take a GPS or map. The park office can advise on shorter walks.
When is the best time to visit Pripyatsky National Park?
May to September: the floodwaters have receded, the weather is warm, and birds and wildlife are active. June–July has heavy mosquitoes. Spring (March–April) floods up to 70% of the park. Winter is snowy and the park is largely closed.
Can I see bison in Pripyatsky National Park?
Bison were reintroduced in 1987, but they are rarely seen. Stay on paths and do not approach. The park is not a safari; sightings are luck.
Do I need a guide to visit Pripyatsky National Park?
No, but the trails are unmarked and phone signal is patchy. A guide is recommended for first-time visitors. Arrange through the Lyaskovichi office.
Is Pripyatsky National Park safe to visit?
Yes, but take precautions: carry a GPS, avoid spring floods, use mosquito repellent, and wear high-visibility clothing during hunting season (October–December).
