Know before you go
- Built on Vračar hill, where Ottoman forces are said to have burned the relics of Saint Sava in 1595: construction of the church started in 1935, was interrupted for decades, and the mosaic interior was only finished in the 2010s–2020s.
- One of the largest Orthodox church buildings anywhere: the dome and gold mosaics inside are the scale that photos undersell.
- Services happen regularly; visitors are welcome to stand quietly at the back during one.
