Salang Pass is the main crossing of the Hindu Kush, featuring one of the world’s highest road tunnels at 3,400 m. The route links Kabul and Mazar‑e‑Sharif, offers panoramic mountain scenery and a brief stop at the tunnel entrance, but there are no formal hiking trails and the area is subject to seasonal snow, altitude effects and unexploded ordnance remnants.

Accessibility
- Road is paved but steep; not suitable for wheelchairs.
Visiting lightly
- Buy food and drinks from local vendors to support the community.
- Carry out all rubbish; do not litter on the mountain side.
