How to do it well

  1. 1From Dōtonbori, turn south down one of the narrow alleys near the Kani Dōraku crab or walk in from Sennichimae.
  2. 2Find the Mizukake Fudō statue, covered in moss from centuries of splashed water.
  3. 3Take the ladle, pour water over the statue, bow and make a wish; a candle or incense costs about ¥100 (check).
  4. 4Walk Hōzen-ji Yokochō, the two stone-paved lanes of small restaurants, then back to the neon.
