Guula Ngurra is one of New South Wales' newest national parks, gazetted in 2020 on the sandstone country between Canyonleigh and the Nattai wilderness, about an hour west of Moss Vale and roughly two hours from Sydney. There is no road into it: Tugalong Rd skirts the boundary and fire trails are closed to the public, so every visit is a walk in and out. Entry is free and there is no visitor centre, no campground and no mobile reception. The park protects koala and glossy black-cockatoo habitat and part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage buffer, and it pairs naturally with Thirlmere Lakes and Bungonia on a Southern Highlands loop.
