Cadí-Moixeró is a 41,000-hectare Pre-Pyrenees park in Catalonia with no gate and no ticket: the Cadí and Moixeró ridges form a wall between the Segre and Llobregat basins, with the Pedraforca massif — two parallel summits joined by the Enforcadura pass — protected separately inside the park's south-east side. Access is by road from Bagà (C-16, south-east), Bellver de Cerdanya and Martinet (N-260, north) or La Seu d'Urgell (west); the R3 train reaches La Molina and Urtx-Alp but not the trailheads. Walking is the point: the Gresolet valley and the Prat de Cadí meadow are the two routes most people can do, the Pedraforca summit is a scree scramble for experienced walkers, and the Coll de Pal road on the east side closes in winter.

Accessibility
- The Bagà park office, the Pedraforca information point in Saldes and the Casa dels Parcs dels Pirineus in La Seu d'Urgell are adapted for wheelchair users.
- The Gresolet viewpoint is reached by paved road with parking, so the view needs no walking.
- The summit trails and the Prat de Cadí route are steep and rough; not suitable for limited mobility.
Visiting lightly
- Park in the designated trailhead car parks rather than on verges; the Gresolet and Pallers areas are the pinch points.
- Use the R3 train to La Molina or Urtx-Alp and local buses where they fit your route, rather than driving the whole way from Barcelona.
- Buy food and fuel in Bagà, Saldes, Gósol or Bellver de Cerdanya so the villages keep the income from the park.
- Stay on marked paths above the tree line; the alpine meadow flora does not recover quickly.

How much does it cost to enter Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park?
Nothing. There is no gate and no entrance fee. You pay only for what you use: the C-16 Cadí Tunnel toll if you drive through (2026 estimate €12–14 per car), guided activities at the visitor centres, and parking where a village charges for it. Motorhome parking at Josa de Cadí and Castellar de n'Hug is free with no services.
What are the best hikes in Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park?
For most walkers, the Gresolet valley below Pedraforca and the Prat de Cadí route from Estana (12 km, about 1,100 m of climb, 5 h) give the biggest scenery for the effort. The Pedraforca summit via the Enforcadura is a serious scree scramble for experienced people only. Easy shorter options are the Sources of the Llobregat at Castellar de n'Hug and La Dou del Bastareny near Bagà.
When is the best time to visit Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park?
June and September are the best all-round months: long days, stable weather, and fewer people than August. May and October are also strong. July is hot at midday, so start early. August is the busiest month and the Pedraforca car parks fill by 09:00. From November to April expect snow on the tops and possible road closures.
Do I need a permit or a guide?
No permit is needed to walk in the park. A guide is not required either, but the Pedraforca summit and the higher Cadí routes are not waymarked walks, so go with someone who knows them if you have not scrambled before.
How do I get to Cadí-Moixeró without a car?
Take the R3 Rodalies train from Barcelona to La Molina or Urtx-Alp, then a taxi or a pre-booked transfer to your trailhead. Buses run to Bagà, Berga, La Seu d'Urgell and Puigcerdà, but services are thin and none reach the trailheads, so a car is far more practical.
Can I camp or sleep inside the park?
Wild camping is not allowed. Use campsites and hotels in Bagà, Saldes, Gósol, Bellver de Cerdanya or La Seu d'Urgell, or a mountain refuge such as Prat d'Aguiló for a high start. Book refuges ahead in summer.
Is Pedraforca suitable for beginners?
No. The route to the Pollegó Superior crosses loose scree and exposed ground at the Enforcadura, and most accidents happen on the descent. Beginners should walk the Gresolet valley and view the massif from below instead.
