Randers sits where Denmark's longest river, the Gudenå, meets the fjord, on the E45 between Aarhus and Aalborg. The compact, partly pedestrianised centre is walkable in 30 minutes end to end, and the draw is a cluster of small, specific sights: a tropical zoo, an Elvis replica mansion, two free museums and river-meadow nature parks. Get around
Walk: the centre is compact and largely pedestrianised, 30 min covers most of it. Free city-bikes are picked up at five spots in the inner city, including the station and bus terminal, but expect a large deposit and card friction for foreign cards. Local yellow buses and taxis cover the outlying sights; the E45 and regional trains link the region.
