Ramstein
Ramstein is a one-hour stop for the air base viewing point, not a destination: half a day is enough unless you have base access.
Ramstein is a small town of 8,000 people in the Palatinate, known almost entirely for the adjacent Ramstein Air Base, a major US Air Force installation. The town itself has a few restaurants and hotels serving base personnel, but no significant tourist sights. Most visitors are military-affiliated; casual tourists can see the base from a public viewing point and move on to Kaiserslautern or the Palatinate wine region.
